On Sunday, October 23 at 11:30 AM our congregation is hosting an educational workshop featuring Craig Stirtz.  Craig serves as the Nebraska District and Concordia University, Nebraska Gift Planning Counselor, assisting our members as we plan gifts for loved ones and ministry, which is a service he has been providing for 30 years in Nebraska.

Craig will cover multiple topics including:  ways to create an estate plan that reduces taxes and maximizes what your loved ones are able to keep, how assets pass (inside and outside of probate), common mistakes people make and how to avoid them, why comprehensive estate planning is important, legacy planning (planning both for loved ones and ministry) and how to make gifts for ministry without disinheriting your loved ones.

This workshop is not a sales pitch as Craig has no products to sell and makes no commissions.  It is an opportunity for you to hear what he has learned through his work that will help you avoid mistakes and maximize your gifts to loved ones and ministry.

You are welcome to come to the church for the presentation on Sunday, October at 11:30 AM. Please sign up by CLICKING HERE to register or notify Scott Seevers at [email protected] of your interest to join us. A light lunch is provided.

Craig offers free, confidential and family focused planning for those wishing to include one or more LCMS ministries in their estate plan – including our congregation.  For more information about his services, plan to attend the workshop or contact Craig at 402-616-0312 or [email protected].

Stepping Stones (Pre-K thru 4th grade children’s ministry) is in the process of planning to start back up in September.  We need some more leaders and helpers to help our children continue to grow in their baptismal faith each week.  Is God nudging you to serve His little children in this way?  We’d love for you to learn and grow with us too!  The curriculum we use is very user friendly.  You can email [email protected], call 402-643-6624, or message us on The Rock’s Facebook page with your intentions or any other questions.

YOGAFAITH AT THE ROCK IS NOW OPEN!  We are offering both IN PERSON classes and online classes.  To stay 6 feet apart, we are limiting the number of people in the room to 6 (including Sara and Erika) so you will have to register in advance for an in-person class. Please click on this link to sign up for a class. If you would like to take the class online please email Sara at [email protected] and she will give you instructions!  As always please check our Facebook page for more information.   https://www.facebook.com/YogaFaith-Seward-256010628294784/

July Schedule:

Tuesdays at 5:30 pm with Erika  – July 14, 21 and 28

Fridays at 9:00 am with Sara  – July 17 and 24 (no class on July 31)

Summer is in full swing and the lawn at The Rock is growing quickly! We try to mow and trim at least once a week. Please consider signing up for  a week when you can mow and/or trim. If you can mow, but not trim, that’s okay. Or maybe you can trim, but not mow. That’s okay, too. Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Mowing is generally done on Friday or Saturday. If you’re signing up to mow for the first time, you’ll be contacted and instructed how to get the mower and how to operate it.  Click here to sign up and help us keep our lawn from becoming a jungle.

Thank you for being so faithful in your giving. As a reminder, we now have 5 giving options:

  • Drop your offering in the basket in the Cafe area if you are attending in-person worship. We won’t be passing the baskets during the service.
  • You can mail your offering checks to us at: The Rock Church, PO Box 199, Seward, NE 68434
  • Download the GivePlus app and give to The Rock using your smartphone. Enjoy the convenience of making credit or debit card donations as a guest user, or create an account to set up recurring donations and view your giving history.
  • Give online through InFaith and your donation can be made via credit/debit card or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) through your checking/savings account. Through a collaboration with the InFaith Community Foundation and Thrivent Financial, The Rock will not be assessed any fees if you give through this online portal.
  • Joyful Response is a way for individuals to make their stewardship commitment to God through The Rock on a regular basis. They can determine the start and stop date of the giving as well as the intervals of payment. This is a simple way for each of us to support the ministry through The Rock. People can designate their gifts to be split out towards the general fund or maybe they want some money to go into a building fund or outreach fund.
  • Click here for an electronic offering form. Forms need to be turned in to Rock treasurer Dave Kumm for processing. You can mail them to The Rock while we’re not gathering.

If you have any questions about The Rock, need information about our events, or anything else, please contact us at [email protected].  Also, if you have a prayer request to submit during the week (or anytime) send it to [email protected]. Our prayer warriors will receive these, as well as Pastor Mike Meyer.

We are also offering one more “drive up” Holy Communion appointment on Wednesday, July 8 for those who are interested. We ask you to stay in your cars for a two-part process of giving you a bag with your bread/wine as you drive up and then driving forward to pray with Pastor Mike. We are asking families to indicate which dates they will come, whether they will come at the top or bottom of the hour, and how many will be taking communion in each car so we can prepare properly for each date.

Our teens will be serving you and a freewill offering will be taken at the serving table to help cover some of their costs at this summer’s National Youth Gathering. If you’d like to help sponsor our teens, you can also give online through Thrivent. Thrivent covers all fees, so 100% of your online giving goes to the youth and their leaders. Click here to make a donation to send our kids to the Gathering.

  • Tastefully Simple Fundraiser: Our teens are also selling Tastefully Simple items as a fundraiser for their trip to the Gathering. Find a teen on Sunday, or check with Jennifer Janousek for more information.

  • We are SEEKING GREETERS to help CONNECT people before worship services.  Do you like to meet and visit with people? Would you like to use your gift of hospitality at The Rock?  Then YOU are needed! A sign up sheet will be available on the counter under The Rock Café sign or contact Diana Boring at [email protected].

  • We’re collecting paper towels for the Blue Valley Food Pantry this April. The collection box is in The Rock cafe and our community appreciates your generosity.

  • The Youth Group of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Goehner (1042 May St. Goehner, NE) invite you to join them April 20th, Holy Saturday, for their second annual Resurrection Run!  There is a 1 Mile FUN-Run ($20 per runner), 5K ($35 per runner), and new this year a 10K ($45 per runner). The cost includes food, drinks, a t-shirt and tons more great giveaways. The Holy Cross Facebook page has more information, and you can click here for the online registration form.  The funds will be used to defray the costs of our youth attending the 2019 LCMS National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, MN.

  • We have faith growth opportunities on Sunday mornings:  Going Deeper, room 213, 8:45 with Pastor Mike. Women’s Bible study with Ann Schranz will resume sometime in the next year.

  • Ladies’ Bible Study, Morning Amigos, meets from 10:15 to 11:30 in the Rock Cafe.  Questions? Contact Karen Hoffbauer ([email protected]) or Marcia Newsome ([email protected]).

  • Yoga at The Rock:  Marge Rhodes teaches Yoga at The Rock on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome!

  • Sara Moll and Erika Rolf teach YogaFaith classes in Room 216 on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm and Friday mornings at 9:45 am.  Also, we offer a Sunday Candlelight class at 6:30-7:30 pm twice a month. Everyone is welcome to join us for 1 hour long Christ centered yoga classes – your first class is FREE!  Please contact Sara at [email protected] if you have any questions.
