Our Beliefs

The Rock Lutheran Church became an official congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in March 2009. As part of the LCMS, we believe and teach according to the Bible and the Lutheran Confessions, including the three ecumenical creeds: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.

Our Name

Inspired primarily by King David’s words in Psalm 40:2, “The Rock” reminds us that God (our Rock) has pulled us out of the muck and mire of our sin and placed us on solid ground. The name “The Rock” also reflects the Apostle Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Christ and Son of the living God (Matthew 16:15-18), and it is upon this “Rock” that the Christian Church stands. Jesus Christ is the firm foundation, and our confession is that “Jesus is LORD.”

I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a ROCK and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
