Replenishing the Building Fund: This year, The Rock has invested over $28,000 on facility-related initiatives for maintenance and improvements, including the Blue Valley partnership building renovation and needed enhancements to the facility and grounds.  Thanks be to God, over $19,000 has been contributed to make these improvements.  Nonetheless, The Rock’s building fund, now hovering at about $20,000, needs a boost of $15,000 to restore it to previous levels and fund 2021-22 initiatives.  If you are in a position to make an additional gift to the Building Fund this year, large or small, it will bless The Rock’s ministry. We’ve already been blessed to receive $1,500 toward our goal! Thank you.

You can give to this fund in the offering basket on Sundays, or give online in our Special Projects category. (Indicate “building fund” to designate your gift.)

New snow blower in search of service-minded humans:  We have a new, powerful snow blower to clear sidewalks this winter (as well as a smaller unit)!  We are in need of volunteers to serve on a side-walk clearing crew.  Weekend (for Sundays) and week-day slots are open.  Even if you can only help on occasion, please contact [email protected] to discuss how you can help.

Please consider helping send The Rock Youth to the 2022 LCMS National Youth Gathering in Houston, TX! The Rock Youth is holding an envelope donation fundraiser to help send the youth and adult leaders to the LCMSNYG in Houston next summer! Simply choose an envelope and give the corresponding amount (in dollars $$$) marked on the envelope. Fill your envelope and drop in the box! There are literally a hundred ways to give. No donation is too small!

Thank you for considering a financial gift during this holiday season, especially in a time when it is increasingly challenging to be a teenager who follows Jesus. Questions? Contact Jen Axt by email: [email protected] or phone: 308.631.7065

Ministry Plan Focus Areas:  Directors and Ambassadors have elevated four 2021-22 Ministry Plan initiatives for focused action planning and progress.  Key initiatives include the following: 1) facilitating four active Huddle Groups; 2) hosting bridge events to connect The Rock with our community; 3) identifying and supporting passionate leaders for HS youth; and 4) exploring additional ministry opportunities through the BVCA partnership.  Even as these four areas receive priority attention, rest assured the entire ministry plan will guide the efforts of The Rock.  You can bless God’s work in this place by participating on one of the working groups—contact [email protected] to learn more.

As the date for our trip arrives quickly, we have had many things to be grateful for and many things that we should continue to pray for. There is power in prayer and it would mean a great deal to our team if you could join us in this mission through prayer. We appreciate your time and blessings towards us, our mission, and the people of Guatemala.

Rich and Diana have a number of dietary restrictions (no carbs: no rice, bread, potatoes, pasta) so they stick to basic meat and veggies. (and Valentino’s gluten free hamburger pizza!) If you’re interested in signing up, the link for the Meal Train is here: https://mealtrain.com/2ve3y5

If you or someone in your family is in need of assistance like this during a time of illness or grief, please contact us at [email protected] so our community can be a blessing to you. Would you like to be visited in the hospital or have pastor visit a loved one? Contact Pastor Mike at [email protected] so he knows where and when to visit.

Please pray for the Guatemala mission team as they prepare to leave for their trip. Pray for: safe travel and good health for the team; that the people they visit with would have open hearts to hear the Gospel; and that the team would have many opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ.

Ministry gift from St. John Lutheran Church: At their October meeting, The Rock’s Directors learned the welcome news of a $7,000 gift received from St. John Lutheran church. The gift, given from St. John Foundation funds, was designated to assist The Rock with construction costs for the Blue Valley Community Action project.  The gift has already been applied to construction bills associated with readying the building for Blue Valley’s occupancy.  What a blessing! Our ministry is immensely blessed by our sincere and meaningful partnership with St. John Lutheran Church, School and Child Development Center in Seward.  Thanks be to God!

A Meal Train sign up has been started for the family of Kim Klintworth, who passed away after battling cancer, to assist her husband Dan and their two daughters as they grieve. The family has no food allergies or restrictions. Information about delivery of meals and dates are found on the sign up page. https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/goow4l

The Rock is pleased to announce that we have been able to improve our lighting in worship because of the Esther 4:14 National Grant provided by The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod this summer. The new lighting has improved the clarity of our broadcast, eliminating the shadows on Pastor Mike, and making the lighting more even on him and the band. We are grateful to have been given this grant and for the blessing it has been, especially to those worshipping online.

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in learning how to manage the audio-visual, livestream, and lighting console on Sunday mornings. It can be fun, you won’t miss worship, and we’ll teach you everything you need to know! Contact Pastor Mike or Tim Moll.

Good Shepherd, Milford will be hosting a free will donation Soup Supper on Sunday, November 14th from 5-7 PM. They will serve chicken noodle soup, chili, and vegetable beef soup. Each meal includes crackers, veggies, dessert, and drink.

Concordia’s Mission Minded Students group is sponsoring an Operation Christmas Child collection on the Concordia campus. Collection boxes are up in Thom lobby, Weller lobby, Janzow Dining Hall and Janzow Student Success Center. You can also pick up a shoebox and flyer on what type of items to donate.

Anyone can donate individual items (like toothbrushes, toys, school supplies, etc.) and leave in the collection boxes – or entire shoeboxes can be assembled. Deadline to donate items on campus is Wednesday, November 17. Need details on packing a shoebox and the ministry outreach efforts of Operation Christmas Child?

We’re posting daily reminders about our 40 Day Being Challenge on our Facebook page. Ask Tim Moll or Pastor Mike for details about the Being Challenge book.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month and there are still 3 days left to express your appreciation! Pastor Appreciation should be more than just a designated event on the calendar but an encouragement to him in service to God and the Church. How can you participate?

  • Pray for your pastor daily.
  • Creatively communicate words of encouragement to your pastor for his service to God and the Church with a card.
  • Take special care to listen and respond to your pastor’s sermons.
  • Team up with your local Christian bookstore to recognize and honor your pastor by giving a gift card to purchase a book or other special items.
  • Send a Pastor Appreciation gift basket which includes thoughtful gifts for your pastor’s kids and your pastor’s wife.
  • Be aware of the unique needs of the pastor’s children by providing financial help for camp, youth group retreats or missionary trips.
  • Invite them to a dinner or party with your family and friends

This only scratches the surface of what you can do to show your appreciation to pastor and his family for their service to God, Forever Family at The Rock, and community.

We’re posting daily reminders about our 40 Day Being Challenge on our Facebook page. We have a limited number of workbooks available for this challenge, and we’re asking a $10 donation to help cover the cost. But if you can’t afford that, we still want you to have the book! Ask Tim Moll or Pastor Mike for details.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month.

The GivePlus app is being phased out, but not until the end of the year. We still encourage you to consider setting up giving on the Vanco website–your login information from the app should also work on the website. Enjoy the convenience of making credit or debit card donations as a guest user, or create an account to set up recurring donations and view your giving history.
